![]() Each Preset Type have it's own preset pool. Do this and then see the title bar of the preset view change when you select the different Presets Types on the right side of the right screen. It might make more sense to open the preset view on a screen that isn't the right one. You can make a Preset view on one the other screens using the view bar or you can open it on the right screen by pressing the Preset key. You can see the different preset types on the right side of the right screen. The preset types change depending on what fixtures you have added to your show. I assume you have a show with some fixtures that have different types of attributes. Now we'll look at how to actually work with them. If you want to learn more generally about what the presets are, then you can read the What are Presets help page. If you then update the values in the preset, then the look of your cues will change. This means that you don't actually store the values in the cue, but a link to the preset. If you store the preset in a cue, then you store a link for some attributes for some specific fixtures to the preset. This value set is stored in a special preset pool that allows you to use the same value sets again and again. Presets are a set of values that a specific selection of fixtures can use. It is simply a computer program that is specially designed for the PC and MAC only which makes it incredibly user friendly. Benefits of LightKeyĪn awesome aspect of LightKey is that when it comes down to it it does not mimic other lighting programs that try to do the actual work of a console. Ultimately this section is what you use to apply anything you need to your different lights and so keeping everything in order will ensure that your show runs smoothly with as few headaches as possible. A tip when using these presets is to be sure that you stay incredibly organized within the pallet section. Using the preset pallets on the side is another great feature. The attributes are conveniently universal and everything will work fluidly despite being potentially used among different lights within the program. This means that it doesn’t have to be the same kind of light to copy and paste the properties that you want. If you are copying and pasting properties you will find that LightKey is extremely cross dimensional. The cool thing about being able to do this is that you can simply go and copy the properties, select as many other lights as you desire, and paste with zero hassle. This feature allows you to go in and copy either ‘dimmer’ or ‘color’ or both. Copying and Pasting PropertiesĪnother interesting attribute is the copy and pasting of properties. You will find that this quick method will work quickly and easily with any attribute. When you hit ‘Shift D’ it gives you a quick control of the dimmer and from there you can choose your value with ease. If you have not used LightKey before, you will find that one of the simplest shortcuts is ‘Shift D’. Let’s discuss a couple fantastic shortcut options that will help you to make the most of your LightKey program. You may find that the price is a little higher, as is with most MAC products, but if you decide that it is within your budget range, it is certainly worth the money. This program is a really visual lighting control and for small to intermediate sized shows, such as a church, it is a really great option.
